Yet cold weather is no excuse to stop caring for your health and body. In fact, winter is the best time to revive or double- down on your Yoga practices.

Also, practicing yoga has manifold benefits for the mind, body, and soul. Yoga tones the body calms the mind, practicing it regularly ensures long term benefits that no other fitness regime can do. We all know as the season changes our body also experiences a variety of changes that can be unpleasant at times. Especially in Wintertime when getting up and out of the blanket in the morning seems like a difficult task but yoga can give the right kick-start to get you through the day. 

So, here are a few tips to enhance your winter yoga practice and also help to improve your physical and mental health.

 

Poses to fight a cold
It is not suggested to follow your standard yoga routine while fighting illness- rest is probably the best option, but these are some poses that open the chest and improve circulation that can relieve the symptoms of cold and flu. 

  • Bridge pose: This is the beginner pose that effectively opens the chests and increases the blood flow to the head. This pose is perfect for opening some congested airways.
  • Dhanurasana (Bow pose): This asana tone the leg and arm muscles. Not only this, but it will also beneficial in relieving menstrual discomfort and constipation which get heightened during the Winter season. 
  • Bhujangasana (Cobra pose): This asana tone the abdomen also improves blood circulation. It also strengthens and improves the flexibility of the middle and upper back. 

Apart from this common and easy yoga poses, you can try doing the Sarvangasana or shoulder stand and Shalabhasana or locust pose.
